Meet Gustavo Adrianzen, the new Prime Minister of Peru

Gustavo Adrianzen Olaya was on Wednesday sworn in as new President of the Council of Ministers (Prime Minister) in a ceremony led by the President of the Republic Dina Boluarte at the Government Palace in Lima.

Thus, Adrianzen will replace Alberto Otarola in the post. The latter resigned on Tuesday evening and was present during the swearing-in ceremony.

The new holder of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM), a lawyer by profession, had been the Permanent Representative of Peru to the Organization of American States, based in the United States, since February 2023.

Moreover, he served as Minister of Justice and Human Rights during the government of then-President Ollanta Humala, when he also assumed the post of Deputy Justice Minister.

The new Cabinet chief, who holds a degree in Law from Alcala de Henares University in Madrid (Spain), is a specialist in Public Administration and Government Management.

He holds a Master's degree in Public and Government Administration from the Madrid-based National Institute of Public Administration (INAP), where he also obtained a diploma after completion of the Second Course on Public Policies for Social Development.

Likewise, Adrianzen is a specialist in human rights and undertook postgraduate studies in Geneva, Switzerland; Strasbourg, France; San Jose, Costa Rica; and Florence, Italy.
